Question 1

What does GitHub Copilot training at SkilBrill cover?

Accepted Answer

Twelve weeks and 72 hours across eight modules: how the tool works, inline completion in practice, chat and context, multi-file edits and refactoring, tests and review, security with enterprise controls, applied practice, and a capstone change shipped through a pull request.

Question 2

Do I need to be an experienced developer?

Accepted Answer

You need to be able to read and write code in at least one language, because the course assumes you can judge whether a suggestion is right. Junior developers take it to accelerate learning; experienced developers take it to raise throughput without lowering the review bar. Complete beginners should learn a language first.

Question 3

Which languages and editors are covered?

Accepted Answer

The techniques are language-agnostic and demonstrated across several mainstream languages so the pattern transfers. Editors cover the common IDEs plus the command line, because the skill being taught is judgement and context-setting rather than a particular keybinding.

Question 4

Isn't this just prompt engineering?

Accepted Answer

No. The differentiator is reviewing generated code and knowing its failure modes: plausible logic, missing edge cases, unsafe defaults and tests that mirror the implementation instead of the behaviour. Most of the course is that judgement.

Question 5

Does this overlap with the Copilot Studio course?

Accepted Answer

They are different products for different people. GitHub Copilot is for developers writing software; Microsoft Copilot Studio is for building conversational agents on a canvas. They share a name and a vendor, which is why they are kept in separate courses.

Question 6

Is certification included?

Accepted Answer

The syllabus follows GitHub Copilot developer objectives so it works as preparation. The vendor exam is booked through its own programme, and the SkilBrill completion certificate is issued by us on the capstone.

Question 7

How do enterprise controls fit in?

Accepted Answer

One module covers policies, content exclusion, audit and what an organisation can and cannot restrict, because most developers will work inside those limits and leads need to set them without making the tool useless.
