Question 1

What is ISTQB CTFL training at SkilBrill?

Accepted Answer

It is preparation for the ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level exam, the entry credential in the ISTQB certification scheme. The course follows the published syllabus: testing fundamentals, testing across the life cycle, static testing, test analysis and design, managing the test activities and test tools. It runs over 12 weeks and 72 hours.

Question 2

How is this different from the Selenium, Cypress and API testing courses on this site?

Accepted Answer

Those programmes teach you a tool: how to drive a browser, call an API or push load at a server. The CTFL teaches the method behind the tool: how to design test cases, which technique fits which risk, how to plan and control a test effort, and how to report a defect. Many people take the CTFL first and then a tool course, or the other way round.

Question 3

What does the CTFL exam involve?

Accepted Answer

It is 40 multiple-choice questions in 60 minutes, and you need 26 points to pass, which is 65% of the total. The questions come from the six chapters of the syllabus, with the largest share sitting in test analysis and design and in the management chapter. Candidates whose first language is not the exam language are given 15 extra minutes.

Question 4

Is any testing experience needed before I start?

Accepted Answer

No prior certification is required, and there is no minimum experience to sit the exam. ISTQB suggests around six months of testing exposure, but the syllabus and the question style are taught from the first session, including the vocabulary the exam turns on. Many people join straight from a graduate programme or from a support role.

Question 5

What does the CTFL syllabus cover?

Accepted Answer

Six syllabus chapters in eight modules: testing fundamentals and principles, testing across the life cycle with static testing, test analysis and design, the black-box, white-box and experience-based techniques with the collaboration-based approach, managing the test activities, and tools with the risks of automation. The capstone adds a test plan, a designed case set and a mock paper.

Question 6

What is the duration and fee?

Accepted Answer

Twelve weeks, three sessions a week of two hours each, totalling 72 hours, with the mock paper scheduled inside the course. Fees run from Rs 35,000 depending on batch and mode, with classroom, live online and hybrid options and placement support through 200+ hiring partners.

Question 7

What certificate do I receive?

Accepted Answer

A SkilBrill Course Completion Certificate for the full 72 hours of the programme. The CTFL credential is issued by ISTQB through an accredited exam provider after you pass the paper, and it is the foundation level that the advanced ISTQB certifications build on. SkilBrill prepares you for that exam; it does not issue it.
