Question 1

What does the MongoDB Associate course cover?

Accepted Answer

The course prepares you for two MongoDB University credentials: the Associate Developer exam and the Associate Database Administrator exam. The eight modules work through the document model and BSON types, query and CRUD patterns, the aggregation pipeline, index selection and execution plans, write concern and read preference, replica sets and the oplog, sharding and chunk balancing, Atlas Search, backup and restore, and the exam format itself, ending with timed practice papers for both tracks.

Question 2

How is this different from the Oracle Database course?

Accepted Answer

Oracle is a relational engine: fixed schemas, normalised tables, a cost-based optimizer and a query planner that chooses among joins and indexes. MongoDB is a document store: flexible nested documents, a JSON-like query language and an aggregation pipeline that transforms data stage by stage. The certification tracks are separate as well, with MongoDB offering developer and DBA exams that assume no Oracle background at all.

Question 3

Do I need to know JavaScript or Python for the MongoDB exams?

Accepted Answer

The Associate Developer exam is offered for several languages, and the course shows the same queries in mongosh, Python and Node.js so you can pick the one your team uses. The DBA exam does not need application code, but it does assume you can read a script well enough to change a value in it. If SQL is your only scripting background, the first two modules close that gap before the aggregation work starts.

Question 4

What is the difference between the MongoDB developer and DBA exams?

Accepted Answer

The developer exam asks you to model data, write queries and build pipelines against a running database, and it is delivered with a language-specific section. The DBA exam asks you to deploy, secure, back up, replicate and shard a database, and it carries more operational weight with 75 questions in 90 minutes. We teach both tracks in one course because a candidate usually wants to know which side of the system their job sits on.

Question 5

Which version of MongoDB is taught?

Accepted Answer

The labs run on a current MongoDB release, which means MongoDB 8.x with the features that have been in place since 7.0: wildcard indexes, time series collections, change streams as a stable API and the vector search work in Atlas. Nothing in the course depends on a version-specific quirk, so a candidate who meets an older server in a job can still follow the material.

Question 6

What is the duration and fee?

Accepted Answer

Twelve weeks, three sessions a week of two hours each, totalling 72 hours, with hands-on labs against a local replica set and a sharded cluster. Fees run from Rs 45,000 to Rs 75,000 depending on batch and mode, with classroom, live online and hybrid options and placement support through 200+ hiring partners. Local practice clusters keep the cost of the labs at zero.

Question 7

What certificate do I receive?

Accepted Answer

A SkilBrill Course Completion Certificate for the full 72 hours of the programme, listing the modules completed and the lab work you submitted. The MongoDB Associate credentials are issued by MongoDB after you pass each exam through the online proctored assessment. We prepare you for the exams and mark your labs; we do not issue the vendor credential.
