About Course
About Palo Alto Networks PCNSA / PCNSE
Configure a firewall the way an examiner expects: packet path, rule design, threat prevention and the troubleshooting method that finds the drop.
PAN-OS is not a firewall with extra features; it is a policy model with a packet path. The exam rewards people who can trace a flow through zones, policy, NAT and decryption and say precisely where it stopped — the same skill that separates someone who can add a rule from someone who can debug one that is not matching.
Course Overview
12-week Palo Alto Networks certification training (72 hours) covering PAN-OS architecture, security policy, threat prevention, VPN, Panorama and firewall troubleshooting. Live online and classroom.
Why Learn Palo Alto Networks PCNSA / PCNSE
Palo Alto sits at the centre of most large network estates in India, so PCNSA and PCNSE holders are needed wherever segmentation and threat prevention are in scope. Because the platform is opinionated, employers would rather hire someone who already thinks in its policy model than retrain a generalist from another vendor.
It also generalises well. Once you understand zones, ordered policy, decryption and logging as one system, moving between vendors becomes a matter of vocabulary. Engineers who can read a policy hit list are the ones called when traffic disappears, and that visibility is hard to replace.
Who Should Join This Course
- Network Engineers — Taking ownership of the security appliance in the path
- Firewall Administrators — Moving from one vendor to a certifiable specialism
- SOC Analysts — Understanding the enforcement point behind their alerts
- Fresh Graduates — Targeting network security as a first specialism
- Consultants — Delivering Palo Alto deployments for clients
- System Administrators — Extending into network security design
Prerequisites
No prior security certification is required unless the course page says otherwise. You need comfort with basic networking — IP addressing, TCP/IP, DNS and what a firewall does — and the discipline to sit a timed multiple-choice exam. Everything specific to the certification, including its vocabulary and its question style, is taught from the start.
Learning Objectives
- Explain the PAN-OS packet path and where each inspection stage acts
- Design security rules that are readable, minimal and reviewable
- Apply App-ID and User-ID to control by application and by person
- Configure threat prevention profiles and interpret what they caught
- Build site-to-site IPsec and remote access VPN with a working design
- Operate Panorama for centralised policy across many firewalls
- Troubleshoot a dropped flow methodically instead of by rule deletion
- Sit the Palo Alto exam with a timed practice score and a lab behind it
Certification Objectives Covered
The syllabus follows the published Palo Alto PCNSA / PCNSE objectives: Palo Alto PAN-OS, PCNSA / PCNSE, App-ID and User-ID, Threat Prevention, Panorama, IPsec VPN together with PCNSA and PCNSE objective coverage, packet-path tracing method, and a lab-first sequence covering policy, NAT and decryption.
Career Opportunities After This Programme
- Network Security Engineer
- Firewall Engineer
- Palo Alto Administrator
- Security Operations Engineer
- Pre-Sales Security Engineer
- Perimeter Security Analyst
Hands-on Practice and Capstone
Capstone: Build a working PAN-OS configuration end to end: zones and interfaces, a readable rulebase with logging, source and destination NAT, an IPsec VPN to a second site, threat prevention profiles with WildFire enabled, and a pushed Panorama policy. Then inject a deliberate fault and diagnose it to a stated root cause using flow diagnostics and packet capture rather than by deleting rules, and sit a full timed practice exam scored by objective.
Production scenario: A remote office reports that a business-critical application stopped working immediately after a rulebase tidy-up, and the obvious fix everyone suggests is to add a permit-any rule. Trace the drop through the packet path with flow diagnostics, find the shadowed rule or NAT mismatch underneath, correct it without opening the firewall, and record the check that would have caught it before deployment.
Course Duration, Mode and Certification
The course runs for 12 weeks (72 hours), three sessions a week of two hours each. Modes: Classroom / Live Online / Hybrid. Certificate issued: SkilBrill Course Completion Certificate. This programme prepares you for the Palo Alto PCNSA / PCNSE exam, which is booked and paid for with the vendor separately from the course fee.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Palo Alto Networks certification training at SkilBrill?
It is exam preparation for Palo Alto Networks credentials, taught on the product itself: PAN-OS architecture and packet path, security policy and rule design, VPN and NAT, threat prevention, segmentation, Panorama operations and firewall troubleshooting. SkilBrill runs it over 12 weeks and 72 hours with a lab build alongside the practice exams.
Which exam does this prepare me for, PCNSA or PCNSE?
The syllabus covers both because the subject matter overlaps: PCNSA is the administrator credential focused on configuration, and PCNSE goes deeper into architecture, troubleshooting and Panorama. The course is pitched at PCNSA first with the additional PCNSA-to-PCNSE material in the operations and troubleshooting modules.
How is this different from the Cybersecurity course?
The Cybersecurity course is a broad skill track spanning network, endpoint, identity, SOC and GRC with no product or certification attached. This one is a vendor specialism on a single platform, measured against an exam, and goes deep on PAN-OS configuration rather than breadth across security domains.
Do I need firewall experience first?
You should understand basic networking: addressing, routing, TCP/IP and what a firewall is for. Prior Palo Alto experience is not required and prior hands-on time with any firewall helps. The packet-path module is written to be understood from scratch.
What does the syllabus cover?
Eight modules: PAN-OS architecture and packet path, security policy, VPN and NAT, threat prevention, segmentation, operations and Panorama, troubleshooting, and a capstone combining a full practice exam with a lab build and an injected fault.
What is the duration and fee?
12 weeks, three sessions a week of two hours each, totalling 72 classroom hours. Fees are ₹45,000 – ₹75,000 depending on batch and mode.
What jobs can I get after this course?
Network security engineer, firewall engineer, Palo Alto administrator, security operations engineer and pre-sales security engineer. In India these typically start at ₹6–18 LPA, with pre-sales and design roles above the band.
