About Course
About Fortinet FCP / NSE 4 Certification Training
FortiGate from the packet flow up: policy, routing, VPN and UTM profiles configured correctly the first time, plus the diagnostics that explain a drop.
FortiGate rewards precision. Policy order, interface roles, route lookup and the security profile attached to a rule decide whether a packet arrives, and the FCP exam asks you to predict that correctly before you touch a console. This programme teaches packet flow first and the feature tour second.
Course Overview
12-week Fortinet certification training (72 hours) covering FortiGate architecture, firewall policy, routing, IPsec and SSL VPN, UTM security profiles, high availability and FortiAnalyzer. Live online and classroom.
Why Learn Fortinet FCP / NSE 4 Certification Training
Fortinet carries one of the largest installed bases among ISPs, managed-service providers and mid-market networks in India, so FortiGate skills are needed wherever those estates are supported. The certification path is also structured in levels, which gives employers an unambiguous way to judge how deep a candidate actually goes.
It also teaches firewall thinking rather than product trivia. If you can reason about route lookup, policy evaluation, NAT and inspection order on one platform you can pick up another quickly, and that portability is what keeps firewall engineers employable across vendor changes.
Who Should Join This Course
- Network Engineers — Owning FortiGate as part of a wider infrastructure role
- Firewall Administrators — Formalising Fortinet product experience with a credential
- ISP and MSP Engineers — Managing many customer FortiGate deployments
- Fresh Graduates — Entering network security through a widely deployed platform
- System Administrators — Extending from servers into perimeter security
- Pre-Sales Engineers — Needing vendor certification for deal eligibility
Prerequisites
No prior security certification is required unless the course page says otherwise. You need comfort with basic networking — IP addressing, TCP/IP, DNS and what a firewall does — and the discipline to sit a timed multiple-choice exam. Everything specific to the certification, including its vocabulary and its question style, is taught from the start.
Learning Objectives
- Explain FortiGate packet flow and the role of each inspection phase
- Design firewall policies with correct objects, ordering and logging
- Configure routing, NAT and interfaces for a working multi-zone design
- Build IPsec site-to-site and SSL remote access VPN that actually connects
- Apply UTM profiles: firewall, application control, IPS, web filter and AV
- Operate high availability and recover from a failover without data loss
- Diagnose traffic flow problems with sniffer and session diagnostics
- Sit FCP / NSE 4 with a timed practice score and a lab behind it
Certification Objectives Covered
The syllabus follows the published Fortinet FCP – Network Security objectives: Fortinet FortiGate, FCP – Network Security / NSE 4, IPsec and SSL VPN, UTM Security Profiles, FortiAnalyzer, High Availability together with Fortinet FCP objective coverage, packet-flow method, and a lab sequence covering policy, routing, VPN and high availability.
Career Opportunities After This Programme
- Network Security Engineer
- FortiGate Administrator
- Firewall Engineer
- Security Operations Engineer
- Infrastructure Engineer (Security)
- Channel Support Engineer
Hands-on Practice and Capstone
Capstone: Configure a working FortiGate end to end: zones and interfaces, a readable firewall policy with objects and logging, static routing with SD-WAN steering, an IPsec site-to-site tunnel and SSL remote access, UTM profiles covering firewall, application control, IPS and web filter, and a high-availability pair with session sync. Then inject a deliberate fault and diagnose it to a stated root cause using debug flow and the sniffer, and sit a full timed practice exam scored by objective.
Production scenario: A branch loses connectivity to head office intermittently, and the HA pair is failing over silently while sessions are lost. Use the session table, debug flow and HA diagnostics to establish which side is asserting ownership, correct the failover behaviour and sync gap, then write the change so the next upgrade does not repeat it.
Course Duration, Mode and Certification

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Fortinet certification training at SkilBrill?
It is exam preparation for the Fortinet FCP – Network Security credential, built on FortiGate: packet flow, firewall policy, routing and NAT, IPsec and SSL VPN, UTM security profiles, high availability, diagnostics and multi-device administration with FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer. SkilBrill runs it over 12 weeks and 72 hours.
Is this FCP or NSE 4?
FCP – Network Security is the current Fortinet credential path that replaced the older NSE 4 designation for this subject area. The syllabus is the same body of FortiGate knowledge, so the course prepares you for the current exam while still being useful to engineers working under an NSE 4 badge.
How is this different from the Palo Alto course?
They are the same specialism on different platforms: this course is FortiGate and FortiOS with FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer, the Palo Alto course is PAN-OS and Panorama. Employers pick by the installed base they run, so choose the vendor that dominates the jobs you are applying for.
How is this different from the Cybersecurity course?
The Cybersecurity course is a broad skill track with no product attachment, covering network, endpoint, identity, SOC and GRC. This is a single-vendor configuration specialism measured against an exam, and it goes much deeper on one appliance family.
Do I need networking experience first?
Basic networking is essential here: routing, addressing, NAT and TCP/IP, because FortiGate sits directly in the traffic path. If that is solid you can start without any Fortinet exposure. The packet flow module builds the FortiOS-specific parts from scratch.
What is the duration and fee?
12 weeks, three sessions a week of two hours each, totalling 72 classroom hours. Fees are ₹45,000 – ₹75,000 depending on batch and mode.
What jobs can I get after this course?
Network security engineer, FortiGate administrator, firewall engineer, infrastructure security engineer and channel support engineer. In India these typically start at ₹5–15 LPA, with design and pre-sales roles above the band.
