About Course
About Microsoft 365 Copilot Training
Grounding with Microsoft Graph, a prompt for every app, and the tenant decisions that have to be right before rollout day.
Most Copilot rollouts stall on adoption rather than on technology: licences are bought, three enthusiasts write clever prompts, and the rest of the business sees no change at all. This course treats a rollout as a change programme with a measured baseline. Alongside the practical use across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams, it covers tenant administration, licensing, and what Microsoft Purview will and will not let Copilot read — because the questions an administrator is asked on day one are about access, not about prompting.
Course Overview
12-week Microsoft 365 Copilot training (72 hours) covering grounding with Microsoft Graph, prompts across Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook and Teams, tenant administration, data governance and adoption. Classroom, Live Online and Hybrid.
Why Learn Microsoft 365 Copilot Training
The people who make a rollout succeed are not the best prompters, they are the ones who can run the programme: baseline a team, design the training, decide which templates matter for their function and report the change in numbers a finance director accepts. That role now exists in most large organisations and it is filled from the inside, by someone who understands the business and the tool together rather than either alone.
It also answers the governance questions that block deployments. What data grounds the answer, who can search it, whether a shared file becomes visible to someone who could not open it, and how retention interacts with generated content. Administrators who can answer those precisely move into governance and security-adjacent work, while administrators who cannot become the reason a pilot never leaves ten people.
Who Should Join This Course
- Microsoft 365 Administrators — Licensing, rollout and the tenant settings behind it
- HR and L&D Teams — Running the training that decides whether Copilot gets used
- Knowledge Workers — Getting real daily output from the tools they already open
- IT Support Staff — Answering the questions that arrive in week two
- Change Managers — Taking a new tool through a sceptical organisation
- Fresh Graduates — Targeting Microsoft 365 administration and adoption roles
Prerequisites
No coding or AI experience is required. You should be comfortable using Microsoft 365 applications such as Word, Outlook and Teams, and ideally have some exposure to Microsoft 365 administration. IT and support staff, adoption leads and regular business users all take this course from their own starting point.
Learning Objectives
- Explain how Copilot grounds an answer in your own Microsoft 365 content
- Write prompts that produce usable drafts in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Run a meeting in Teams and leave with actions rather than a transcript nobody reads
- Configure licensing, tenant settings and the Copilot admin experience
- Apply Microsoft Purview controls so sensitive content is not surfaced
- Plan a staged rollout with a measurable adoption target
- Diagnose the common week-one failures: permissions, licensing and expectation
- Report adoption and time saved with evidence rather than a survey
What the Syllabus Covers
The syllabus is mapped to the published Microsoft 365 Copilot User + Administrator objectives: Microsoft Graph, Copilot Prompts, Tenant Administration, Data Governance, Microsoft 365 Apps, Adoption together with tenant administration and licensing, Microsoft Purview governance over what Copilot may read, prompt patterns for the five core apps, and an adoption measurement method that starts from a recorded baseline.

Hands-on Practice and Capstone
Capstone: Assess a real tenant for readiness, draft the licensing and phased rollout plan, apply Microsoft Purview controls to content that must not be surfaced, build role-based prompt training for three job families, define adoption and time-saved metrics against a measured baseline, then deliver the rollout plan, AI usage policy and support playbook.
Production scenario: Copilot licences were bought in April and by June almost nobody was using them, because permissions were never cleaned up and every role got the same generic training. The rollout built here reverses that: a readiness assessment finds the oversharing first, Purview labels are applied before the first licence is assigned, and training is written per job family so a finance user and a support agent each get prompts for the work they actually do.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does Microsoft 365 Copilot training at SkilBrill cover?
Twelve weeks and 72 hours over eight modules: how Copilot grounds answers with Microsoft Graph, prompts across the Microsoft 365 apps, meetings and collaboration, tenant administration, governance with Microsoft Purview, adoption and change, applied practice, and a rollout capstone.
Is this for end users or administrators?
Both, deliberately. The daily-work modules teach a person to get real output from Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams, while the administration and governance modules cover licensing, tenant settings, Purview controls and rollout planning. Administrators, adoption leads and heavy users all take the same course.
Do I need to know PowerShell or scripting?
No. Administration here is the Copilot admin experience and the Microsoft 365 admin centre, driven through the interface. Where a readiness check benefits from a scripted approach it is shown as a guided export rather than assumed knowledge.
What is grounding and why does it matter?
Grounding is how Copilot adds your own organisation's content to the request before the model answers, so a reply can quote your actual policy rather than a generic one. It also means permissions apply: content a user cannot see is not surfaced to them, which is why oversharing is a full module.
Does this cover Microsoft Copilot Studio?
Only as the neighbouring product. This course is about using and rolling out Copilot inside Microsoft 365. Building your own custom agents with topics, actions and channels is the separate Microsoft Copilot Studio course, and the two cross-link.
Is certification included?
The syllabus follows Microsoft 365 Copilot user and administrator objectives so it works as preparation. Microsoft exams are booked through Microsoft's own programme, and the SkilBrill completion certificate is issued by us on the capstone.
What do I leave with?
A readiness assessment of a real tenant, a phased rollout plan with licensing, Purview controls applied to sensitive content, role-based prompt training for three job families, and adoption metrics with a baseline defined before you start.
