About Course
About Microsoft Copilot Studio Training
Topics, triggers, actions and channels — the engineering side of Copilot, where you build the agent rather than talk to one.
Copilot Studio is where an organisation gets its own agent instead of a general one: topics and trigger phrases that route intent, generative answers grounded on documents the business actually owns, and custom actions that call a real API and write the result back. The distance between a toy and a deployable agent is not the model, it is the escalation path when the agent is unsure, the authentication on the action, and the data loss prevention rule that stops it answering from the wrong place. This course is built around closing that distance.
Course Overview
12-week Microsoft Copilot Studio training (72 hours) covering agents, topics and dialogs, generative answers, custom actions with connectors, channels, data loss prevention and publishing. Classroom, Live Online and Hybrid.
Why Learn Microsoft Copilot Studio Training
Copilot Studio sits with the Power Platform, which means the work lands on platform and business-solutions teams rather than on specialist AI groups. Engineers who can build an agent, publish it to Teams or a website and defend its permissions are unusually valuable in organisations already committed to Microsoft, and the supply of people who have genuinely shipped one is still thin relative to demand.
It also teaches conversation design as an engineering discipline. Trigger phrases that collide, topics that loop, an escalation that never reaches a person, a connector that times out silently — these are the defects users actually meet, and they are debugged with traces and test conversations rather than by rewriting the prompt until it feels right. That debugging habit transfers to any conversational platform.
Who Should Join This Course
- Power Platform Developers — Adding conversational agents to an existing skill set
- Microsoft 365 Administrators — Moving from rolling Copilot out to building on it
- Software Developers — Building a task-completing agent rather than a chat window
- Business Analysts — Designing dialogs and the branching a task actually needs
- Fresh Graduates — Targeting conversational AI development on the Microsoft stack
- Support Teams — Automating tier-one questions without losing the escalation path
Prerequisites
No programming experience is required, but you should be comfortable with structured configuration and able to read a JSON API schema, since the custom actions module maps real request and response fields. Prior exposure to Power Platform, Microsoft 365 administration or chatbot design helps but is not required.
Learning Objectives
- Scaffold an agent and structure topics with clear trigger phrases
- Design a dialog with branches, variables and a clean exit path
- Ground generative answers on your own content with citation behaviour
- Implement a custom action over a real API with a connector
- Add authentication so an agent can act on behalf of a named user
- Publish to Teams, the web and mobile channels with correct configuration
- Write a data loss prevention policy that does not break the agent
- Test, version and promote an agent into production with a rollback
What the Syllabus Covers
The syllabus is mapped to the published Microsoft Copilot Studio Creator objectives: Topics & Dialogs, Generative Answers, Custom Actions, Power Platform Connectors, Channels, DLP Policies together with topic and trigger-phrase design, generative answers grounded on your own content, custom actions over a real API with connectors, authentication, data loss prevention policies, and publishing across channels with a measured test set.
Career Opportunities After This Programme

Hands-on Practice and Capstone
Capstone: Design an agent for a real process, build topics with trigger phrases, branching and a human escalation path, ground generative answers on your own source content with citations, add a custom action through a connector to a real API, apply authentication and a data loss prevention policy, publish to two channels, then deliver tests, version history, analytics and a support runbook.
Production scenario: An HR agent answers benefits questions beautifully until someone asks about their own salary, at which point a connector happily returns it. The build here closes that gap before launch: authentication identifies the caller, the action validates arguments and refuses anything outside scope, a DLP policy blocks the connector it should never have had, and the escalation topic hands the conversation to a person with the transcript attached.
Course Duration, Mode and Certification
The course runs for 12 weeks (72 hours), three sessions a week of two hours each. Modes: Classroom / Live Online / Hybrid. Certificate issued: SkilBrill Course Completion Certificate. The syllabus prepares you for the Microsoft Copilot Studio Creator credential, which is booked and paid for with Microsoft separately from the course fee.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does Microsoft Copilot Studio training at SkilBrill cover?
Twelve weeks and 72 hours across eight modules: the agent model, topics and dialog design, generative answers and knowledge, actions with connectors and Power Automate, channels with identity and publishing, governance and DLP, applied practice, and a capstone agent published to two channels.
How is this different from the Microsoft 365 Copilot course?
Microsoft 365 Copilot Training is about using the assistant inside Word, Outlook and Teams, plus licensing and tenant rollout. This course is about building your own agent: topics, trigger phrases, custom actions, channels and DLP. One is adoption and administration, the other is development.
Do I need to know how to code?
No programming language is required. Topics are built on the canvas with natural language triggers. You do need to be comfortable with structured configuration, and the custom actions module involves reading and mapping a JSON API schema, which is taught rather than assumed.
What is a topic and what is a trigger phrase?
A topic is a unit of dialog that handles a particular kind of request, and trigger phrases are the example utterances that tell the agent when to open it. Getting triggers right is most of the craft, so a full module covers them along with what to do when the model misroutes a request.
Can the agent actually do things, not just answer?
Yes, through custom actions and connectors. You expose an API or a Power Automate flow, map its arguments, handle failures, and give the dialog something to present back. The course also covers when an action should be blocked rather than executed.
Is certification included?
The syllabus follows Microsoft Copilot Studio objectives so it works as preparation for the credential. Microsoft exams are booked through Microsoft's own programme, and the SkilBrill completion certificate is issued by us on the capstone.
What do I leave with?
A working agent with topics, branching and escalation, grounded answers over your own content, a custom action over a real API, authentication plus a DLP policy, published to two channels, with tests, version history and a support runbook.
